Opening presents...We gave an ottoman for Dad because he had a knee surgery a few month before and needs to put his leg up sometimes. He can also store things in it.
25日の朝といえば、プレゼントを開けるイベント。お義父さんにはオットマン（足載せソファー）をプレゼント。数ヶ月前に膝の手術をしてから時々、足をあげないとつらいそうなので、喜ばれました。上を開けて中に物が収納できるようにもなってます。
I got a cast iron grill pan! It is Giada de Laurentiis's brand and beautiful red. I had been looking for one for a while so I am super happy! Thank you for the suggestion, Steven! I also got Tory Burch shoes from Steven and cute sweater jacket from Mom&Frank but I already opened before I came here. I love both of them!
私はキャストアイアン（鋳物）のグリルパン！フードチャンネルで有名なイタリアンシェフのジァダのブランドで美しいイタリアンレッド。グリルパンをずっと探していたので、すごくうれしい。（Stevenのさしがねです。ありがとう！）ここに来る前に、StevenからTory Burchの靴、お義母さんとFrankからはかわいいセータージャケットをいただいたけど、12月半ばにとっくに開けちゃいました。両方ともとても素敵。

I am a main chef this time. Like my mother, I like hosting guests so this is fun. When I was prepping the dinner, I kept thinking how my mom hosts guests (which is very meticulous). Before I start cooking, let me show you my Christmas outfit. I made this tunic dress for this Holiday season. The apron doesn't go with the dress but I like these yellow flowers on it.
今回は私がメインシェフ。日本人妻がアメリカの伝統行事のお料理をしきるのってどうよ？って感じですが、母ゆずりで人をおもてなしするの好きで、苦にならずに楽しんじゃうのでOKです。色々用意していると母がお客さんのある時にいろいろと心を配っていたことを思い出す。ここは寒くて凍ってしまうので、玄関先の水撒きはしなかったけどね！ところで着ているチュニックドレスは手作りです。チェックの生地がクリスマスらしいでしょ。エプロンとは色が合わないのはさておき、自分では気に入っています。
I chose rib roast for main course. We ordered 4lb prime rib roast and dry aged for 3 days. We placed the meat on a rack and a baking dish. Put a cheese cloth on the meat loosely and stored in the fridge. Changed the cloth every day. Hope it works...
メインにはリブローストを選択。2キロ弱のプライムリブの牛肉を注文し、冷蔵庫で3日間ドライエイジしました。ラックをベーキング皿に乗せてその上にお肉をおき、ガーゼをふんわりとかけます。冷蔵庫に入れて毎日ガーゼを取り替えるだけ。おいしくなってるといいけど。

They are here!! Mom & Frank, my other father in law, and brother David arrived. David brought a box of beautiful mushrooms for me! They are super jumbo size. He couldn't stay for dinner but we had a good time with him.

Steven said, "Look out the window!!" Wow, it is snowing! It is a white Christmas!! I ran out and danced in the snow... :)

After the dinner, we played Phase 10. Everybody other than Steven and I had never played this game before but they liked it! We played 4-5 hands.
夕食の後はPhase10というカードゲームをしました。Stevenと私以外は初挑戦のゲームでしたが、みんな楽しんでいました。4,5回したかな。
It was a great gathering and I was soooo glad to fly here and did this dinner. Wish David and Steven's sister, Lynn could make it... アメリカの端から端まで飛んできてこのディナーをしてよかった。お兄さんのDavidと妹のLynnがいたらもっとよかったけど楽しい集まりになりました。

Soup:Wild mushroom and leek soup with truffle oil

Cesar salad with panchetta topping and mashed potato with leek are Steven's work. Eggplant, tomato and ricotta cheese tart was easy to make. Mom made candied carrots, green beans+garlic and bacon, and roasted butternut squash and brussel sprouts. Loved her veggie dishes!
シーザサラダ＋パンチェッタとポロ葱入りマッシュポテトはSteven作。ナス、プチトマト、リコッタチーズのタルトは簡単にできました。お義母さんの人参のグラッセ、グリーンビーンズ＋ベーコンのホットサラダ、バタナッツ瓜と芽キャベツのローストもおいしかったあ。

Rib roast was great. Dry aging process was painless and it tenderize the meat and gave condensed flavor. I would do it again.
