Day2 in Japan - Ueno & Ryoko's place

We woke up in 4am because of the jet lag as usual and we know where we can go this hour. This noodle place is a few minutes away from the inn we are staying. A 80 some year old guy runs this little place from 4 am. I don't care if the noodle is overcooked or not hand kneaded this early in the morning. Good hot soup comforts my jet lag stomach and says "Welcome home." All soba or noodle is around $3. いつものように時差ボケで4時頃に目が覚めて、布団の中でじっとしているとだんだんお腹が空いてくる。こんな時に行く場所は決まっています。旅館から2,3分のところにあるうどん/そば屋さん。立ち食いと書いてあるけど、カウンターに座って食べるようになっています。80歳を過ぎたおじいさんが一人でやっているこのお店は朝4時から麺類がなくなるまで（大体11AMごろとか）開いています。おそばが茹で過ぎでも、手打ち麵でなくてもこんな朝からいただけるのだからかまいません。熱くておいしいおつゆをすすれば、時差ぼけの胃に染みわたり、「お帰り！」と問いかけてくるようです。安さにもびっくり。 Hatsune Soba
Yanaka Ginza

Since we saw the movie the other day, we had wanted to find this place, the ruins of five story pagoda which was burnt in 1957. We didn't know till we saw the movie even though we stayed in　Yanaka so many times. I cannot forget the scene that the pagoda was consumed in flames in the movie.
例の映画を見てからどうしても訪れたかった五重塔の跡。1957年に焼けたそうです。何度も谷中に泊まっているのに映画を見るまでは知らなかった。五重塔が燃えるシーンは忘れられないなあ。

We also visited some temples in Yanaka. Look, some Sakura is blooming! 谷中のお寺にも行ってみました。あ、桜が咲いているではないですか。

Went to Ueno Park to see some Sakura. Early blooming ones were already full bloomed. 桜といえば、近いところでは上野公園。というわけで、行って見ました。早咲きのものはもう満開でした。

After we had Italian pasta for lunch with my sister, Ryoko, we visited her new place. The new apartment is much bigger than the last one and we had cheese and Taiyaki. The one I had was filled with custard cream since I don't like bean paste. 妹の涼子とイタリアンのパスタでランチをした後は、彼女の新しい部屋へ行きました。前のところよりずっと広くて明るくていいね。チーズや鯛焼きをいただきました。あんこがだめな私はクリーム入りの鯛焼き。
