Seoul, Korea 6

This is the famous sakura spot in Seoul, Yeouido. Sakura couldn't wait to bloom for the Sakura festival which will be held next week. It was full bloomed. BEAUTIFUL!!　ここはソウルでも有名な桜の名所、ヨイド。来週にひかえる桜まつりを待てず満開。きれいでした！




On the way back home, we stopped at Narita for transit and we found a massacre scene! No, they are just taking nap.
帰りは成田経由だったのだけど、殺戮現場を発見。実は疲れて仮眠中の皆様。

Seoul, Korea 5

On the day Mom and Ryoko went back to Japan, we went to Toksugung palace for the last minute sight seeing. ママと涼子が日本へ帰る前に最後の観光、徳寿宮へ。
見事な桜。Beautiful sakura.
Ryoko is pretending ring the bell. This goofy girl has a goofy sister. 涼子は鐘を鳴らしているふり。いやはや…。この妹にしてこの姉あり。




We had a lot of fun and wished they could stay longer...
すごく楽しかった。もう少し二人がいられればよかったけど。

Seoul, Korea 4

Mom, Ryoko and me went out for shopping. First we went to a small local restaurant for breakfast. I loved the egg dish on the right. It was like a savory egg souffle and it was light and fluffy. The red dish on the right was too spicy for me. Mom and Ryoko liked it though. ママ、涼子と私でショッピングしに街へ繰り出す。最初は朝ごはん。とても小さい地元の食堂を発見。右側の卵料理がとてもおいしかった。スフレのような茶碗蒸しのような軽いふわふわした食感でGood.　左側の赤いのはちょっと辛すぎ。ママと涼子にはおいしかったみたいだけど。

涼子「このラーメンすごくおいしいから絶対食べてみて。」
Ryoko :"This ramen is soooooo good. You need to try it."

Market has a lot of interesting stuff. These are famous dried fish.
マーケットには面白いものがいっぱい。これは特産の干物。


We bought a lot of stuff and these two got high points. 1. Meat dumpling bigger than her face. 2. The vivid red coat for Mom. いろいろ買ったものの内、二つを紹介。１．顔より大きい肉まん。２．ママの真っ赤なコート。

The red coat stands out at the hotel lobby, too :)

world heritage, Changdeokgung. Mom, Ryoko, Maruyama san, Sascha, Steven and me make 4.5 Japanese and 1 American and 0.5 German(Sascha Goto is Japanese/German) so we took a guided Japanese tour :)
世界遺産の昌徳宮。ママ、涼子、丸山さん、Sascha、Stevenそして私なので日本人4.5人、アメリカ人一人、ドイツ人が0.5人（後藤Saschaさんはハーフ日本人/ドイツ人なのです。）で多数決で日本語ガイドツアー！：）




We had a great time in this tour. Beautiful buildings and gardens. Very colorful, too.
とても楽しいツアーでした。建物や庭も美しく、色彩もカラフル。




Yes, it was Sakura season in Seoul, too!

Went to a Samgetang restaurant for dinner. Samgetang is a whole chicken stew with Korean herb and Jinseng. So tasty!! Had Chijimi which is green onion pancake. Yummy!夕食はサムゲタン専門店へ。鶏が丸ごと朝鮮人参やハーブで煮込んであってとってもおいしい！ねぎ焼きのようなチジミと一緒にいただきました。

Seoul, Korea 2

Visited National Museum of Korea. Wow, this is the most organaized museum in the world!!! I have a hard time to keep tracking the route in the museum. (Well, not only in the museum...anywhere really.) I have no sense of directions and I usually go to museums by myself while Steven is working so I get lost all the time. I was very comfortable walking in this museum because all the areas has numbers and the route you need to take is always cleary shown so I just need to follow. Their collections are great of course.
ソウル国立美術館へ。ここは世界一きちんと整理されている美術館だと思った。美術館では私はいつも迷ってどこにいったのかどれを見たのかわからなくなってしまう。（実は美術館だけでなくどこでもだけど。）方向音痴がひどくてStevenが仕事をしている間にいく美術館めぐりはとんでもないことになるのです。ここは全てのセクションに番号がふってあって順路がはっきり表示されていて迷うことなく楽しく鑑賞しました。



Also went to Leeum Samsung Museum of Art.
Leeum サムソン美術館にも行きました。

Not only their collections but their buildings are very impressive.
美術品も素晴らしかったけど建物がとてもモダンで素敵。

Steven rembered the day we met for the first time and sent this to me. So sweet!!!! It was a surprise, too!!
Stevenが初めて会った日を覚えていてくれてお花を贈ってくれたの。超やさしい!　それもサプライズ。

We had octopus spicy fried rice for dinner. スパイシーたこ焼き飯がディナー。Me, Steven and Sascha. Sascha doesn't like Kimchi so he is having a hard time here.
私、Steven、Saschaの3人で行きました。Saschaはキムチが嫌いなので韓国では大変です。

Seoul, Korea 1

I had never gone to Korea even it is only 50 munites plane ride from my hometown.
Our hotel is closed to Toksugung palace where soldiers parade is held.
We took a picture with one of the soldiers (He is not really soldier and more like a performer.)
We also found a snack on the way. They shape like walnuts and have chestnut paste inside. Very good.
実家のある大分県から飛行機で50分のところにあるのに今まできたことのなかった韓国。
滞在していたホテルの近くにある徳寿宮では兵隊の交代パレードがあるので行ってみた。写真を撮らせてもらえました。途中でくるみの形をしたお菓子を発見。たい焼きのような皮で中は栗餡かな。おいしかった。

Tokyo, Japan 2

Sick of sakura already? Well, we aren't so here is another sakura watching. Let's go!
もう桜はいいって？いえいえ、私達はしつこく観に行きますよ、今日も。レッツゴー！

Sakura in Shinjuku Gyoen (park). 本日は新宿御苑でございます。

This park has 1300 sakura trees and is very popular place for picnic.
ここは1300本の桜の木があり、お花見にはとても人気の場所ですね。

公園内はとても広く美しい庭園も見られました。本当に日本庭園いいねえ。
A lot of beautiful views in this garden. Mmmmm I love Japanese gardens.

We really enjoyed sakura in Japan. We hadn't seen it for 4 years so now we are happy camper!
本当に桜を堪能した旅でした。日本で桜見るのは4年ぶりだったのでもうルンルンです。

Tokyo&Odawara, Japan 1

This is the view from our hotel in Asakusa, Tokyo. Sumida river has 1000 sakura trees on its both sides. Our first date 4 years ago was the boat ride running on this river. It was so beautiful and romantic :)

これが浅草のホテルから見える隅田川の景色です。両岸に1000本あまりの桜があるそうですよ。4年前の私たちの初めてのでいとはこの隅田川下りのボートでした。桜もきれいでロマンチックでした。

Sakura is full bloomed in Tokyo! Let's go see some at Ueno Park!

東京は桜が満開。それでは上野公園で桜を満喫しましょう！

Odawara is in Kanagawa prefecture and took 1.5hrs by train.

小田原へは東京より1時間半くらいでした。

Odawara castle is taken by Hideyoshi Toyotomi to show people his power. Beautiful castle and sakura.

小田原城は秀吉が北条氏からとりあげその力を人々にみせつけたお城ですね。桜とのショットが美しい。

After we enjoyed Odawara castle, we went to One night castle by Steven's strong request.

This castle was built by Hideyoshi starting in the bush. After the castle is ready, he cut all the trees around the castle at night so people saw the castle and said "oh, he built the castle in one night!!" Smart guy.... I didn't know this legend and learned from history geek, Steven.
小田原城を満喫した後は、Stevenがこれは見逃せないという一夜城へ。秀吉がこっそり林の中で建築を始め完成後夜のうちにお城のまわりの木を全て伐採し人々に一夜で建てたとおもわせたいう伝説のあるお城。（全然知らなかった。さすが歴史オタクのSteven）

But the castle itself is not here any more so took a picture with the memorial marker.

でもお城自体はもうないので記念碑と共にお写真。

Had Sakura rice bento box and a meat bun for lunch. We were able to enjoy sakura here, too.

桜おこわ弁当と肉まんを一夜城公園でいただき、ここでも桜を堪能。

Back to Tokyo and had a dinner with our friends at Mexican restaurant in Hiroo.

東京へ戻り、広尾のメキシカンレストランで友人たちとディナー。

Kanazawa, Japan 3

The last hot spring and breakfast in Kanazawa.
金沢で最後の温泉と朝ごはん。

Before we left for Tokyo, we visited Oyama Shrine where memorial place of Maeda Toshiie.
東京へ向かう前に、前田利家公をおまつりする尾山神社へ。


This is the special helmet for Toshiie.　これは利家公の特別な烏帽子。


Steven looks good in it, too. :)　Stevenにもよく似合う！


We arrived in Asakusa, Tokyo around dinner time and had Tendon (Deep fried shrimp and vegetable bowl)　東京、浅草には夕食時についたので天丼をいただきました。さすが浅草、天丼がとてもおいしい。
